dc.description.abstract | Refugee youth are vulnerable to poor mental health due to exposure to trauma and disruptions to their psychological, emotional, and physical development. Using the public mental health theoretical framework, this chapter will explore the need for early mental health intervention and support for refugee youth during and after resettlement in host communities. Many refugee youth experience adjustment challenges following prolonged exposure to the stress of insecurity, fear, and loss. Further discussion will critically examine the support programs and services that have been developed. | |
